Nancy Detwiler • Professor • Movement Arts • Movement Arts Department Chair

Prof. DetwilerDr. Detwiler has been teaching at ENC since 1960 and has coached since the mid-50s. Currently, she is the chair of the movement arts department and is the athletic director at ENC. In 1991, she was inducted into the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) for outstanding achievements in volleyball coaching. Her published papers, one of which was presented to the Seoul Olympic Scientific Congress, are focused on teacher behaviors and emotional involvement. Dr. Detwiler notes that, “involvement has been significantly related to achievement in the teaching-learning process.” She lives with her husband in Quincy and has two grown children.

Ken Hardee • Adjunct • Movement Arts

Coach Hardee came to Eastern Nazarene College in July of 2000 and was recently recognized for five years of service in May 2005. The coaching of women’s tennis and women’s basketball is his primary role at ENC. Previously, Coach Hardee was a high school English teacher and coach at Hollywood High School in Los Angeles, Calif., from 1988 to 2000. In addition to coaching, he enjoys movies, theatre, reading, and playing golf. He lives right next to the ENC baseball field, so he can “watch games through [his] kitchen window.” He lives with his wife, Laura, who is a first grade teacher in Quincy, his daughter, Meg, and his son, Sam.

Prof. ReidProfessor Reid has been at ENC for eight years. He is the head coach of the baseball team, assistant athletic director, and an instructor in the physical education department. Professor Reid teaches the classes “Foundations of Movement” and “Adapted Physical Education.” Before coming to ENC, he was a physical education teacher at Liberty Christian Academy and an assistant baseball coach at Kenyon College. He now lives next door to Bradley Field, “home of the Crusaders,” with his wife Wendy and daughters Maddux and Mia.
