The Associate of Arts in General Studies requires the completion of 62 credit hours as follows:

Liberal Arts Core Curriculum Requirements (17 credit hours)

EN103 Critical Writing
CO110 Fundamentals of Speech
BL110 Biblical History and Literature
EN104 Rhetoric
PE Physical Education requirement (1 credit hour)
CP210 Western Heritage
Choice of one of the following:
CP230 Arts and Music
CP240 World Literature
CP295 Philosophical Quest

Other Required Courses (19 credit hours)
A student seeking an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies may choose courses to meet the following requirements:

Social Science courses may be chosen from any department in the Division of Social Sciences. Arts and Letters courses may be chosen from any department in the Division of Arts and Letters. See Programs and Majors for a list of divisional affiliation for each departmental major. The Division is also indicated at the beginning of each departmental section in this catalog.

Electives (15 credit hours)
CC101 Freshman Seminar is recommended.

William Boozang (Instructor)

BA in English from Saint Anselm College
MA in English Literature from Rivier College

M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from ENC


Prof. CarletonDuring the last ten years, he has taught in a variety of high school and college classrooms, public and private, including schools in Cambridge, Quincy, Walpole and Hanover. He has taught programs in study and reading skills at colleges around the country, high school English, MCAS and SAT preparation courses as well as literature and writing courses at Quincy College. At ENC, Bill teaches courses in English and Education, as well as developmental courses in the CAP program.For fun, Bill reads, golfs, watches movies, and works on his house. Bill, his wife Jane and son Will are residents of Wollaston and parishioners at St. Mary's Church in West Quincy.
