Amy M. Carleton (Assistant Professor) English

Prof. CarletonProfessor Carleton has been a full-time professor since the Fall of 2003. From 1998 to 2000 she was Associate Editor of the Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids at its Boston office at Northeastern University. She also had worked in higher education in several capacities prior to coming to ENC, as a Graduate Program Assistant in the College of Arts and Sciences at Northeastern University, as an Adjunct instructor in the English Department at Northeastern, and as an Adjunct at Wheelock College in Boston, MA. Currently she is working on her Ph.D. in English at Northeastern University. She lives with her husband and son.

Karen Henck (Assistant Professor) English, Department Chair

Prof. HenckProfessor Henck has been teaching at ENC since 1996. Among the courses she has taught at ENC are Journalism I and II, Great Novels, and African-American Literature. From 1997 to 2000 she was advisor to the Campus Camera, ENC's student newspaper. Previously she has taught English as a Second Language in Japan, and taught freshman composition at Baylor University and at the University of Connecticut, Storrs. She is currently revising her dissertation for publication. Professor Henck has worked in the field of journalism, as a reporter, feature writer, and columnist. Among the newspapers she has written for are the Brockton Enterprise, Taunton Daily Gazette, and the Mariner Newspapers. She has also worked at the U.S. Department of Defense and the Department of Transportation, as a documentation specialist. She lives in Quincy with her husband and two daughters.

Marianna Krejci-Papa (Assistant Professor) English, Division of Arts and Letters Chair

Prof. Krejci-PapaDr. Krejci-Papa has been teaching at ENC since 1999, but has been instructing in higher education virtually since graduation, at colleges including Yale, Stanford, the University of Maryland, and National University. At ENC she teaches courses such as World Literature, British Literature, and Literary Criticism. She also offers "Theory to Practice: The Teaching of Literature" to English majors who have decided on a career in secondary or higher education. Dr. Krejci-Papa has given conference papers at the Modern Language Association Convention in Washington, D.C. and has conducted a number of interviews and written book reviews for Science and Spirit. She lives in Wollaston, MA with her three children. Her oldest plans to attend ENC in 2012.

Deborah Saitta-Ringger (Instructor) English

Prof. Saitta-RinggerProfessor Saitta-Ringger is joining the ENC faculty full time in the fall of 2004 after having worked as an adjunct in the English Department for three years. Previously, she taught at Quincy College for 15 years, where she received an award for Excellence in Instruction and Meritorious Service. She also taught secondary English at St. Clare High School in Roslindale, where she served as the English Department Chairperson for the last five years of her 11-year tenure. Professor Saitta-Ringger says she is delighted to have accepted a position in the department, and looks forward to filling a need there and becoming more involved with the students at ENC. She lives in Quincy with her husband and daughter.
