"I love going into the school, interacting with the children, and learning what strategies to use. I love seeing the kid’s faces, eager to learn something new and exciting.  In one of my pre-practicum experiences, I was able to assist with a demonstration that allowed the students to feel how whale blubber protects the whales in the water. The kids loved having a hands-on experience and learning new things.  I can’t wait until I get the same reaction when I am a teacher."

All faculty members at Eastern Nazarene College share in the responsibility of preparing students for teaching careers. Teacher education is a major function of the college.

Title II Section 207 of the Higher Education Act mandates that institutions preparing educators for work in schools must disclose the pass rates for their students during the most recently completed academic year. Reporting guidelines do not permit reporting pass rates for programs which have less than 10 students who have taken a test. This applies to both the Communication and Literacy Skills exam and the Content Exams.

To be licensed to teach in Massachusetts, candidates must pass two licensure tests: a Communication and Literacy Skills test (basic skills reading and writing tests) and an exam in their academic Content area. (The teaching areas of Elementary, Early Childhood, and Special Needs must also pass the Foundations of Reading Test.) The following table reports the pass rate information for ENC candidates (includes graduate as well as undergraduate students).
