The goal of the Business Department is to:

1. produce students who, through a balance of liberal arts and a professional business curriculum, are aware of and conversant with major contemporary issues and who are capable of moving throughout society with a sense of confidence and competency.
2. develop competencies in the practice of Management, preparing students either for selected career opportunities or for graduate school.
3. emphasize and promote Christian ethics as pertains to business and economic activities, with the goal of integrating faith and learning throughout the Business program of the college.
4. provide experience in the effective integration and application of written and oral communication skills in the professional development of students; to develop skills in analysis and concept building; and to acquaint students with methods of study and research, along with an appreciation for the application of other academic disciplines to both the personal and professional experience, present and future.
5. engender and nourish within students an awareness of their potential for contribution to society through the exercise of leadership.

The Business Department offers two degrees:

Bachelor of Arts

In addition to the college Liberal Arts Core Requirements, majors in Business Administration must take 60 credit hours in the business core as follows:

• BA109 Quantitative Analysis for Business (fulfills math option)
• BA110 Intro to Business
• MA118 Introduction to Statistics
• BA112 Principles of Management
• BA221 Principles of Accounting I
• BA222 Principles of Accounting II
• BA231 Principles of Economics I - (Microeconomics)
• BA232 Principles of Economics II - (Macroeconomics)
• BA252 Principles of Marketing
• BA311 Organizational Behavior
• BA312 Financial Management
• BA315 Management Information Systems
• BA361 Marketing Communications
• BA411 Business Law
• BA426 Human Resource Management
• BA431 Strategic Management

**In addition, students will be required to take an additional 8 credits from a group of courses that will be offered during their four year program. Students will be required to select two of the following courses: BA341 Money and Banking, BA353 Electronic Commerce, BA435 International Business, and BA357 Small Business Management.

Associate of Arts

The Associate of Arts in Business Administration requires the completion of 65 credit hours as follows:

• Liberal Arts Core Curriculum Requirements (21-23 credit hours)
• EN120 Rhetoric (2 credit hours)
• CO110 Fundamentals of Speech (2 credit hours)
  • (CO120 Introduction to Speech is highly recommended as an alternative)
• BL110 Biblical History and Literature
• EN121 Critical Writing
• variable Physical Education (1 credit hour)
• CP210 Western Heritage

Choice of one of the following:

• CP230 Arts and Music
• CP240 World Literature
• CP295 Philosophical Quest
