Aaron Domina (Assistant Professor) Biology
Ph.D. Pharmacology and Toxicology, Dartmouth College
B.S. in Biochemistry, Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Dr. Domina began in the biology department in fall 2004. Though he is the freshest face in Shrader, he has a knowledgeable background. He taught cell biology for the University of Texas Medical School Familiarization Program until 2004. He was formerly a post-doctoral researcher in host-pathogen interactions of emerging and re-emerging infectious disease at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He currently is teaching such classes as general biology and genetics for ENC. Dr. Domina has been published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry. He grew up in Mass., and is excited to begin at ENC for its “pursuit of academic excellence and its emphasis on a relationship with Jesus Christ.” He enjoys being active outdoors, especially when that involves cheering for the Red Sox. He lives in Quincy.

Jonathan E. Twining (Assistant Professor) Biology

Mr. Twining returned to ENC this year after a four year absence. He started the Environmental Science Program at ENC, and taught environmental science at ENC from 1997-2001. He taught middle school science at Remington Middle School in Franklin, MA from 2001-2005. Prior to teaching, Mr. Twining was an environmental consultant with several firms in Rhode Island, and was registered as a Licensed Site Professional in Massachusetts. Mr. Twining serves on the Board of Trustees for the Smithfield Land Trust, and is the founder and president of Marah International, a Christian environmental non-profit organization. He has recently helped to write the Creation Care Guidelines for the Church of the Nazarene Worldwide. Mr. Twining has received several awards for his teaching, including an Environmental Merit Award from the US Environmental Protection Agency, and the Formal Environmental Educator Award from the New England Environmental Education Alliance. His main interests are vernal pool and stream ecology, land and water conservation, and advocating for creation care in local churches. He lives in Smithfield, RI with his wife, Julia, and son, Jared.

Matthew J. Waterman (Assistant Professor) Biology, Biology/Chemistry Dept. Chair
Ph.D. in Cellular-Molecular Biology, University of Pennsylvania post doc, Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Hospital, B.S. in Biology, Eastern Nazarene College.
Dr. Waterman has taught at ENC since 1999, and is currently the Chair of the Biology and Chemistry Departments. He is also a Health Professions advisor and an advisor to the Biology Club. Prior to coming to ENC, Dr. Waterman taught in the General Biology Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania, and was a Research Fellow in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. To date he has coauthored seven articles, which have appeared in such journals as
Cancer Research and
Nature Genetics. His main research interest at present is in the interface of angiogenesis (new blood vessel growth) and tumor suppressor genes. He is also an active member of the American Association for Cancer Research. He lives with his wife in Sharon, Mass.
