Teacher – Learning Center (part-time)
This position works independently under the direction of the Program Director and is responsible for the planning, operation and maintenance of high quality Learning Center program and activities to shape values and encourage lifelong community service. The teacher will offer programs serving 2.9 to 7 years old offering a continuum of casual and connected programs within the community. The successful candidate will provide community leadership for age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate activities and leadership collaborations and be able to demonstrate high quality member service to both internal and external program participants, members, and volunteers to ensure member involvement, service and retention.

Specialized, Technical or Practical Know How:
Minimum of an Associates degree (or working towards) in Early Childhood or related field. EEC teacher certified. At least one years related experience in the Early Childhood field as well as the ability to handle many projects simultaneously. The candidate must have knowledge of NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children), DOE (Department of Education), and EEC (Early Education and Care) regulations/standards.

Human Relations Skills:
The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, children, families, volunteers, members,, community leaders and other agencies are important to this position. Be flexible and a team player. Effective teaching skills, communication is clear/precise, the ability to deliver excellent member service, and a high level of enthusiasm required.

Managerial Skills:
Create, implement, and document Department of Education Preschool guidelines and NAEYC standards. Able to record daily attendance, snack/lunch count, and Work Sampling System. Poise and professionalism when addressing concerns and interacting with people, including issues of confidentiality is required.

Principle Responsibilities:
Program Management, in coordination with the Program Director the Teacher will:
a. Develop, implement and manage the daily operations and strategic planning of Learning
Center programs for preschool-kindergarten children.
b. Formulate, develop and coordinate a high quality Learning Center program to support core
program goals in accordance with the Association and Branch strategic plans; work within
available financial resources.
c. Ensure regular program evaluations and use feedback gathered from families to develop
program improvements.
d. Build strong, supportive relationships with families and children. Provide outreach and
follow-up services to children and (where appropriate) their families.
e. Develop department program philosophy, standards, and action plans.
f. Provide a high quality program with age appropriate activities based on the developmental
needs of the children.
g. Develop collaborative relationships with community leaders including schools, Quincy
Police department and Fire Department , parks and recreation, and service clubs.

h. Responsible for overall classroom management, including but not limited to: attendance
records, developmental records, and assessment 3x a year.
i. Responsible for health and safety, and positive guidance of the children while creating and
maintaining a harmonious learning environment.
j. Follow the Association Learning Center Program Code of Conduct and Risk Management
policies: develop additional policies and practices as necessary.
k. Host and attend Family Nights, staff meetings, open house, family conferences, and
participate yearly in the 20 hours of training required by Early Education and Care.


Certificates, Licenses, Trainings

All staff are required to complete Child Abuse Prevention: OSHA and Emergency Procedures Training
CPR/AED/FA must be completed within 30 days of employment.
Early Education and Care Teacher certification prior to employment.
