Christian radio station owned and operated by Greater Commission
Broadcasting.

other
jobs have you held?
Office/Asst. Business/Traffic
Manager at
Magnum Broadcasting; Director of Human Resources/EEO Specialist at
Magnum Broadcasting; Theater Manager at Warren Players Theater
Is there
anything you wish you had done differently during your years at ENC?
I wish I had taken my
position
of Station Manager of the campus radio station more seriously. I could
have done a lot more and learned a lot more.
How
would you
describe the current job market in your field?
Administration jobs are hard to come by. People tend to stay in them
for their entire careers only moving every 5-10 years or so. Most
people in the management positions started as managers in other fields
of work. Without a good audition tape, On-Air positions are hard to
obtain.
What
skills
and/or personality traits are particularly important in your field for
a competitive job search? For On-Air work: A good solid voice
that will maintain the listener. Have a sense of humor but know how to
get the job done. An overall pleasant personality is a must. For
Production work: Be constantly up to date on the equipment available to
you. Radio technology is ever changing with new computers and editing
equipment emerging every day. Administrative: Ability to work under
stress a must. No matter how high up on the "ladder" you may be there
is always someone who wants something and you have to be prepared to
give it to them. Ability to multitask also a must. Know your stuff and
be able to stand on your own.
Anything
else you would like to add?
Radio is tough to get into but once you are there the rewards are worth
it. Use your infinite opportunities at ENC and in the Boston area to
soak every aspect you can. Don’t limit yourself to one area of radio.
Ready yourself in everything. Unless you are working for a specific
Christian station or company, radio is very secular. Be prepared to be
a minister in works and people will see your difference and want to
know more.
