Eastern Nazarene Cruises past Pine Manor 9-0.

  

October 18th, 2008.  Quincy, Mass.  In their last match of the season, the Lady Crusaders got out to a fast start and never looked back.  Amy Casey (Hampden, Mass.) and Katie Madison (Longview, WA) doubled up to win 8-0 while teammates Laura Keith (W. Bridgewater, Mass.) and Heather LaFountain (Pawtucket, RI) followed suit. 

 

In number one singles Amy Casey again won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 and Meghan Weaver (Carthage, NY) also captured the team a point with her 6-3, 6-4 win over Imani Grant.

Eastern Nazarene finishes this season at 3-12 while Pine Manor falls to 0-12.

 

 

Eastern Nazarene falls to Curry on Court, 1-8.

  

October 9th, 2008.  Quincy, Mass.  Facing neighboring The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) opponent, the Crusaders of Eastern Nazarene fell to the Colonels of Curry College with their only win coming in number three doubles.  Stephanie Pestilli (Norwell, Mass.) and Nehemie Suzin (Columbia, MD) triumphed with an 8-3 win.

 

But Curry swept all singles matches to win the match comfortably.  The Crusaders Stephnie Pestilli, in number five singles, went into a three set tie breaker only to narrowly fall 6-2, 5-7, 13-11. 

 

Eastern Nazarene (2-11, 0-10) completes their 2008 season when they face Pine Manor College on October 18th at Homecoming, match time 10:00 am.

 

 

Eastern Nazarene doubles delivers 6-3 victory past Newbury.

  

October 9th, 2008.  Quincy, Mass.  Having fallen in number one and two singles in three sets the Crusaders tandems of Amy Casey (Hampden, Mass.) / Katie Madison (Longview, WA) and Arielle Nazareth (Warwick, RI)/ Laura Keith (West Bridgewater, Mass.) came through with 8-2 wins to propel the Crusaders to their second win of the season.

 

Laura Keith went onto win in number three singles (6-1, 6-0) and senior Stephanie Pestilli (Norwell, Mass.) earned the number five singles win (6-2, 6-1).  The Crusaders were awarded wins in third doubles and sixth singles due to defaults which sealed the positive result.

 

Eastern Nazarene (2-11) hosts Curry College on Saturday, October 11th.

 

Eastern Nazarene battles UMass.-Boston to narrow 7-2 defeat.

  

September 18th, 2008.  Boston, Mass.  Close Crusader losses at number two, three and six singles and number one doubles turned the tide for the Beacons to walk away with their second win of the season.  UMass.-Boston climbs to 2-2 while Eastern Nazarene moves to 1-6 on the season.

 

While Laura Keith (W. Bridgewater, Mass.) won 6-3, 6-1 at number four singles for the Crusaders and then teamed up with Amy Casey (Hampden, Mass.) at number two doubles to earn ENC’s second point, 8-5 in a Pro-Set, the Crusaders fell in too many other close matches to be able to make up the difference.

 

At number two singles Crusaders Amy Casey lost in 3 sets with the third set going to a 10-8 tiebreaker, (6-3, 4-6, 10-8).  Katie Madison (Longview, WA) at number three singles and Stephanie Pestilli (Norwell, Mass.) at number six singles lost in close two set matches, 7-5, 6-1 and 6-2, 7-5.

 

Then at number one doubles Allison Cammarata (Marian, Mass.) and Katie Madison lost 9-7 in a Pro-Set tiebreaker.

 

Easter Nazarene has off until September 23rd when they travel to Western New England College and pick up in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action.

 

 

Eastern Nazarene wins first of the season over Anna Maria, 9-0. 

 

Sept 15th, 2008.  Quincy, Mass.  The Crusaders (1-4 / 1-3 TCCC) notched their first win of the season today as they hosted The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Anna Maria College.  The Crusaders won 3-0 (8-1, 8-2, 8-0) in doubles allowing the AMCats to pick up just 3 games and then took all singles matches in two sets.  The Crusaders #1 and #2 singles, Allison Cammarrata (Marion, Mass.) and Amy Casey (Hampden, Mass.), won 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0.

 

Eastern Nazarene hosts TCCC leading Endicott College on Wednesday, September 17th at 3:00 pm in hopes of continuing to play their best.  Anna Maria travels to TCCC opponent Curry College on Thursday, September 18th.

 

 

Eastern Nazarene runs into sturdy Gordon. 

 

Sept 13th, 2008.  Quincy, Mass.  The Crusaders (0-4 / 0-3 TCCC) could not overcome the Fighting Scots (2-1) today in The Commonwealth Coast Conference play as the visitors out gunned the home team by winning all singles and doubles matches.

 

Although the Fighting Scots sweeping the day, at number one singles, Crusaders Allison Cammarata (Marion, Mass.) played strong while eventually falling 6-4, 6-2.  And Crusader Laura Keith (W. Bridgewater, Mass.) played her best tennis of the year while losing 6-1, 6-4.

 

Eastern Nazarene faces TCCC opponent Anna Maria on Monday, September 15th at 3:30 pm on campus.

 

 

Eastern Nazarene outmatched, but steals point in #1 Doubles. 

 

Sept 5th, 2008.  Quincy, Mass.  The Crusaders (0-2) surprised the Seahawks of Salve Regina today in The Commonwealth Coast Conference as Allison Camarata (Marion Mass.) and Katie Madison (Longview, WA) picked off a point for the team at 1st doubles, winning 8-5. 

 

At 2nd and 3rd singles the Crusaders forced the Seahawks into three sets but Crusader Amy Casey (Hampden, Mass.) would end up losing 10-8 in the third set tiebreaker and Katie Madison would also lose in the third set tiebreaker 10-1, after splitting two sets, 6-1, 2-6. 

 

Eastern Nazarene plays again tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 11th for a non-conference match up against Becker College. 

 

Eastern Nazarene opens season and TCCC play with loss to Bison, 9-0.

 

Sept 5th, 2008.  Quincy, MA.  The Crusaders hosted TCCC contenders, the Nichols College Bison, to open their season.  The Crusaders played with everything they had but could not crack the deep Bison squad.  With the task of rebuilding the team, Coach Popa said he, "was pleased that his team competed and gained the valuable experience in playing against a tough competitor."

 

Eastern Nazarene hosts next Wednesday, Sept. 10th against another TCCC title contender, Salve Regina at 3:30 pm.
