Coaching StaffHead Coach: Mike Johnston 617 745-3581
It was announced on March 14, 2005 that interim Coach Mike Johnston has been named Head Women’s Volleyball Coach of Eastern Nazarene College’s Varsity Program. Coach Johnston was acting interim coach when Coach Schmidt stepped aside this past winter. After two years as the Assistant Coach and coaching three years at the high school level, Coach Johnston is looking forward to this opportunity to build on the success that has been instilled in ENC’s Women’s Volleyball program.
While this is his first year as head coach at ENC he is no stranger to the sport of volleyball. Early in Coach Johnston’s career he played three years Varsity Volleyball for North Quincy High School where he received many honors, including the 1997 League MVP as well as The Boston Globe All Scholastic Award.
After high school Coach Johnston attended ENC where he was a part of the NECVL club team that placed 9th in the Division 2 NIRSA Volleyball Tournament located at the University of Texas. Coach Johnston was the Team President for three years while being nominated as a three time NECVL All-Star. Before graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Therapy in 2001, Coach Johnston was awarded ENC’s Male Athlete of the Year Award that year.
Coach Johnston says, “With my passion for volleyball and desire to inspire athletes both on an off the court, I hope to make a difference in the lives of the players in this program.”
Coach Johnston and his wife Megan live in Quincy, MA just blocks away from the ENC campus and they are active members of the Malden Church of the Nazarene. They are expecting their first child in August.
