Kenneth "Ken" Stanford, senior pastor of the South Weymouth, Massachusetts, Church of the Nazarene, was elected to the office of district superintendent for the New England District. With General Superintendent Eugénio R. Duarte presiding, Stanford was elected on the tenth ballot on May 21, to be effective 30 days after the election.
New England's district assembly, their 103rd, was held at the Wollaston Church of the Nazarene in Quincy, Massachusetts, May 20-22.
"The attitude of my heart is like Samuel when he says 'Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening,'" Stanford told NCN News after his election and acceptance of the position. "I was blown away by the clarity of His call. I am excited about serving Him in this capacity on the 'best district in the whole wide world!'"
Stanford has served as pastor of the South Weymouth church since 2005. He previously pastored churches in Connecticut (Manchester), Massachusetts (Wareham Emmanuel, Worcester, Lowell), and Indiana (Auburn). He was ordained in 1985 on the New England District.
Stanford is a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College and Nazarene Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Jacquelin, currently reside in South Weymouth.
