The ENC History Department will present a free lecture by Yale University History Professor Timothy Snyder at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday April 10 in the Mann Student Center auditorium.Drawing on his book, Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin, Snyder will examine the mass murders committed by the Nazi and Stalinist regimes in the context of where they occurred. Following the lecture, Snyder will sign copies of his book.Snyder received his doctorate from the University of Oxford, where he was a Marshall Scholar. He is the author of five books, including The Reconstruction of Nations: Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, Belarus 1569-1999 and Nationalism, Marxism and Modern Central Europe: A Biography of Kazimierz Kelles-Krauz.Snyder’s lecture is funded by the Frances and James Swarz Endowment for the Study of the Holocaust and Genocide and is part of the Donald A. Yerxa Distinguished History Lecture series.
