  Wireless @ ENC Print Version

ENC is pleased to announce secure wireless network access for campus community members. Following is all the information you need to get connected. If you do not have an NSA account, you may use the "ENC Guest" to use the open wireless network.

Where is wireless available?

At the present time, the IT team is working on building a robust wireless infrastructure. Wireless network is available across most campus buildings and a few outdoor areas, including the lawn in front of Gardner Hall, and the picnic table area outside of the Mann Student Center. For optimal speed and reliability, we recommend that you connect your computer to the network using the Ethernet jack in your room.

What do I need?

1. A laptop computer running Windows XP or MAC OSX with the latest updates. Note: Windows Vista is not compatible with ENC wireless at the moment. ITS is working with Microsoft to resolve the issue. We will inform you if there is any progress.

2. An ENC Network Services Account (NSA). You must also reset your NSA password before attempting a wireless connection. Go to http://nsa.enc.edu

Note: If you are visiting ENC, you may use our ENC Guest account exclusively set up for ENC guests.

3. A wireless network adapter compatible with 802.11b or 802.11g.

Visit the ITS helpdesk Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm for help with a Windows or Mac laptop, or if you forgot your NSA username or password.

Configure your wireless adapter

(MAC OSX users click here)

Click Start, then Right-click "My Network Places", then click Properties OR Click Start, Control Panel and double-click on "Network Connection."

Right-click the wireless connection icon, then click Properties.

Click the "Wireless Networks" tab, check the "Use Windows to configure my wireless settings"

Click the "Add" button.

Type "ENC" in the box labeled "Network name (SSID)."
Select "WPA" in the "Network Authentication" popup list.
Select "TKIP" in the Data Encryption list.

Click the "Authentication" tab
Select "Protected EAP (PEAP)" in the "EAP type" popup list.

Click the Properties button.

Click on the "Configure..." button.

Un-check the "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any.), then click OK.

Click OK four times to exit the configuration.

Now authenticate to ENC and connect:

Click the "Wireless Network Connection" popup balloon that appears.

Enter your NSA username and password (leave "Logon domain" blank).

Click the second popup balloon that appears, clicking OK to accept ENCs secure certificate.

Make sure that your browser is configured correctly.
After a few brief moments you should be connected! Happily, you will not have to repeat this process every time you connect. Enjoy!
