I
forgot my password, what should I do?
First
make sure that the Caps lock is not on. If
you still can't figure out your password,
stop by the ITS department during normal business
hours.
Why can't I access
my enc.edu account?
The problem may be one of several
things. See if one of these solutions will
help:
•If you are typing numbers, make sure
the Num Lock is on or use the numbers above
the letter keys instead of on the keypad.
•If you
are checking email, make sure you are typing
just the username (such as hughesd) and not
the entire email address (such as david.hughes@enc.edu).
•If you
have already changed your password, make sure
the Caps Lock is off. Your username will be
in lower case.
•If you
feel you need to reset your enc.edu password,
stop by the ITS department during our office
hours.
How
do I change my password?
• Go to
http://nsa.enc.edu
• Enter your username and password to
log into your account.
• Once you are logged in, you will see
an option to change your password on the left
navigation bar.
• Passwords must have:
• Atleast 8
characters
• Atleast 4 unique characters
• Atleast 2 non-letter characters
(numbers or puncuation marks)
How
can I create a good password?
• Passwords must be more than eight
characters in length.
• Passwords must include a combination
of cases, letters, and numbers.
• Do not make it easy to guess your
password by avoiding words found in the dictionary
and identifiable phrases.
• Avoid using names, phone numbers,
and places.
• Example: Instead of using ‘computer’
as your password, you could set it as ‘C0mpu2er’.
Notice small ‘c’ was substituted
with a capital ‘C’, ‘o’
with ‘0’ (zero) and ‘t’
with ‘2’
What can I do to protect
my password?
• Keep it confidential. Do not share
yor password or leave it where anyone else
can find it.
• Do not let others look over your shoulder
as you type it.
• Avoid storing your password in programs
you use, such as your web browser, or software
for e-mail or the program that connects to
the Internet.
• Choose a secure password that you
can remember, and avoid writing it down; if
you must write down your password, keep it
in a place where no one else can find it.
How often should
I change my password?
ITS recommends that passwords be
changed at least once every three months.
It is up to the user to change your passwords
more frequently. Click
here to change
your password.
Is it safe to send
my login/password through e-mail?
No! Passwords should never be sent
via emails. Emails are not encrypted and there
is a possibility that someone might get your
login/password.
Can ITS create/reset
my password for me over the phone?
No. For your own security, ITS cannot
create/reset passwords over the phone. You
will need to present a valid ID to our staff
in order for us to process your request.
I'm trying to login to my
account, and it keeps telling me that my login
ID or password is incorrect. What should I
do?
Try to log in again making sure that you entered
the correct username and password. The next
thing you want to make sure is that the Caps
Lock is not ON. If you still cannot access
your account, stop by the ITS helpdesk and
a staff member can help you. Our office hours
are: Mon-Fri 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
