Configuring Sophos

 

Sophos has to be configured in order for it to work properly. If you haven't installed Sophos yet, click here for instruction on how to install Sophos.


Follow these instructions to configure Sophos.

• Click on Start->All Programs->Sophos Anti-Virus->Sophos Anti-Virus.

• The following screen will open up.



• After the first installation, you will notice that the File types is set to Executables as default. In order to change that right click on executables and select all files.


• Next, click Options from the menu.

• Click on Configurations. A new window "Immediate Mode Configuration" should pop up.

• Make sure that the scanning level is set to Full and Priority to Normal.

• Check the remaining boxes.

 




• Now go to the Action tab.

• Check on ALL the boxes: Disinfect boot sectors, disinfect documents, disinfect programs, disinfect mailboxes, infected files (check the delete box).

Note on infected files: This setting will delete the file(s) that could not be repaired/disinfected by Sophos. If you do not want the file(s) to be deleted, choose other options from infected files.



• Press OK.

• Now, click on the IC Client Tab.

• Next, click Options from the menu.

• Click on Configurations. A new window "InterCheck Client Configuration" should pop up.

• Set the scanning level to Quick and uncheck all the other boxes.


• Now go to the Action tab.

• Check on ALL the boxes: Disinfect boot sectors, disinfect documents, disinfect programs, disinfect mailboxes, infected files (check the delete box).

Note on infected files: This setting will delete the file(s) that could not be repaired/disinfected by Sophos. If you do not want the file(s) to be deleted, choose other options from infected files.




You are done!! Sophos will run on your background, check the any viruses and delete them as it finds it. You may also change the settings, but ITS recommends that you use this setting.
