The Reverend Anna Case-Winters joined the faculty of McCormick Theological Seminary in 1986 as instructor in theology, became assistant professor in 1988, associate professor in 1990, and professor in 2003. Case-Winters graduated magna cum laude from Agnes Scott College with a Bachelor of Arts degree and summa cum laude from Columbia Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree. She received the Doctor of Philosophy from Vanderbilt University with a major in theology and a minor in Bible. She was recipient of the John H. Smith Fellowship. Upon graduation from Columbia, she became associate pastor of Central Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City, serving there from 1978-80. While in graduate school at Vanderbilt, she continued in pastoral ministry on a part-time basis. Prior to her appointment at McCormick, Case-Winters served as associate director of field education at Vanderbilt Divinity School and as a graduate teaching scholar. She is a member of the American Academy of Religion and past president of the American Theological Society. Case-Winters served for ten years as the moderator of the theology committee of the Caribbean and North American Area Council of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches. At present she is serving as Co-Chair of the International Commission for Lutheran and Reformed Relations. Case-Winters also served two terms on the General Assembly Committee on Ecumenical Relations of the PCUSA. She has preached and lectured throughout the denomination. Case-Winters is author of Divine Power: Traditional Understandings and Contemporary Challenges (Westminster Press, 1990), and she is particularly interested in contemporary theology and in the Reformed tradition. She is currently engaged in research and writing on the topic of theology and science. She is recipient of the Templeton Exemplary Paper in Humility Theology for 1997, the Religion and Science Course Award for 1998, and is a grant recipient for the year 2000 Templeton/ASA Lecture Series. Her present book project is, Down to Earth: A Christian Theology of Nature. Case-Winters is married to R. Michael Winters III, who is pastor of the Morton Grove Community Presbyterian Church. They live with their two sons in Oak Park, Illinois.
