Tips For Working Together As A Team
Develop an attitude of cooperation and respect
for the opinions of others on the team. Yours might not always be
the best plan.
Come prepared to each team meeting, and actively
participate in the meeting with appropriate suggestions and comments.
Work together to create an environment where each
person feels that he/she can share his/her opinion freely and openly.
Listen to each other, and include everyone.
No plans should be made until everyone’s voice has been heard.
The Bible says, “Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become
angry.”
Make it a point to encourage and support your
teammates.
Don’t point out problems without offering
solutions.
When making a decision, try to arrive at a
consensus, which is not the same as a majority vote. A consensus
is when everyone weighs in on a decision, and everyone can live with
the decision, even if it is not the choice you would have made
individually.
Keep your end of the bargain. Make sure you
are doing everything you have agreed to do.
Even though you have busy schedules, try to spend
some time together outside of class and/or your project. This may
not always be possible, but try it nevertheless.
Above all, do and say everything in love.
Do not be critical, judgmental, or intolerant of others. We are
all different, and have different opinioins about the way things should
be done. As Paul said, “As far as it depends on you, try to live
at peace with everyone.” Romans 12:18.
