Amanda Hope
Alumni Profile:
Amanda Hope

What does the typical student in the Ecology and Environmental Science Program look like?  Amanda Hope in many ways exemplifies the biology and environment science students that graduate from ENC.  Amanda graduated from ENC in 2002 with a degree in environmental science.  While at ENC, Amanda maximized her college experience with internships for the City of Quincy Department of Public Works and the Norfolk County Mosquito Control District.  She learned a great deal about wetlands from these internships, researching and assessing salt marsh habitats on nearby Hough's Neck.  Her work lead to restoration projects that restored tidal flow to these areas.

Since graduating from ENC, Amanda has been a part-time environmental educator for two Massachusetts environmental organizations, and was most recently a recycling coordinator in the Boston area.  Amanda has recently been hired as the Wetlands Project Coordinator for the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project, and is very excited about her new position.  She is responsible for coordinating the activities of the organization as they relate to altering wetlands for mosquito control.  One of her responsibilities will also be to map invasive species that may be clogging waterways, thereby slowing the flow of water and allowing more mosquitoes to breed.
