Sampling Site #2 is on the downstream side of the culvert where Smelt Brook passes under Liberty Street.  In this location, the brook is flowing very slowly and the water is somewhat stagnant.  Leaf litter lines the bottom of the stream channel.  The brook flows into a swamp located on the south side of Route 3A and upstream from 20-Acre Pond.
