Sampling Site #1 is located along Brookside Road in Braintree.  The brook runs into a culvert about 300 yards south of Stetson Street, then continues on until its confluence with the Fore River.  The brook's gradient is moderate in this reach, and there are riffles and pools present.  The bottom substrate is made up of gravel, cobbles, and boulders.
