Taking Action: What Kinds Of Projects Can I Do In My Own Community?

We want you to leave NYC this year as people of action, committed to being ambassadors for Christ every day, whether in school, at church, at home, or in the community.  If you are taking the "Caring for God's Earth" track, we want to equip you to demonstrate care for the earth on a daily basis, making decisions that will improve the condition of the planet for humans and other species.  We can learn to become people of action by looking at the example of Nehemiah (chapters 1 and 2).  When confronted with bad news about the condition of his city, Nehemiah:

(1)  Recognized the problem
(2)  Identified with the problem
(3)  Confessed he was part of the problem
(4)  Committed to becoming part of the solution, with God's help
(5)  Learned all he could about the problem
(6)  Asked others to join him in solving the problem
(7)  Continued working in the face of opposition
(8)  Resolved the problem

What are some practical ideas for the kinds of projects you might undertake in your community to care for creation and set a good example for others?  Check out some of the links below for community project ideas.

Once you have some ideas, take them to your youth group, school, or other team/group and present your ideas to them.  And if at first you don't succeed, try again!!!!  Sometimes it takes persistence and perserverance to help others realize the importance of taking care of creation.
