The Person
The Eastern Nazarene Soccer Program is a
principle focused program that looks to attract and develop attitudes
reflecting a healthy and high regard for faith/God, self, others and
excellence. Individuals will not be asked to compromise these
principles for the sake of success but rather they will be challenged to
increase their ability to reflect these principles and attitudes.
These principles and attitudes serve as the
foundation for change and development. Part of this challenge is in
tangible ways having to deal with measurable goals while other parts of
this challenge involve intangible attitudes in the way life is approached
dealing with courage, purpose and character.

The Player
The Eastern Nazarene Soccer Player is one
who is committed to technical improvement no
matter what stage the player is at. The focus of ENC players
is not about past or current abilities, but it is on where they are
going. Through the whole team, each player is expected to
carry his weight in developing and playing.
There are no days where training is
scheduled that a player can not give a full effort in what is being
asked of him. Practice Hard, Play Hard, or Go Home.
The player of the Eastern Nazarene Soccer
Program is mindful that an interdependency exists between he and
others. Individual actions effect the group at large, for this
reason, this program expects players to be committed to the things
that foster excellence and the greater good of the team.
Because a team does not exist without
others, the central focus is what benefits the teams goals and
needs. It just so happens that as the team exceeds everyone's
success is heightened.

The Game
Every coach will have what he is looking
for. This coach likes to prepare his players to play the game
with speed and play it smartly!
Speed of thought and skill are critical to
defending, possession and attacking. Playing one and two touch
soccer, playing the way you face are emphasized while the ability to
take on the opponent, and when, are crucial to possession and
results. Extreme skill is a goal for every player in this
program, and when to and not to use it is emphasized.
The process of the game ebbs and flows and
while we will work to dictate the play and tempo of the game, there
will be times when we will need to play under different terms than
what we designed. The player and team will coached to have the
knowledge and composure to deal with these moments in order for and
until the tempo is regained.

The Road
The truth of the matter in life is that
nothing worth having comes easily or without sacrifice and dedication.
Shortcuts are the sure way to achieve less than what is possible and
get less out of what you do achieve.
We will join together to sweat, cry and
laugh. The first two will happen because what we do, and how
we do it, matters to us. The latter will happen at unexpected
moments and years
later when we realize what happened along the way.

The Program
The Eastern Nazarene Soccer
Program is objective, intentional and specific about what it requires the
player to do in order to be certain of development. Each player
receives feedback on a regular basis on strengths and weakness'
and will be knowledgeable of what is expected of them in order to
develop their level of play as an individual and as a teammate.
Though players are expected
to practice on these areas on their own, they will find these areas
being implemented in training sessions.
The goal of this program is
to continue moving towards maturity in our lives and soccer.
The target level of play for this program is to emulate what the
best teams in the world play like. We play to win, but if
that does not happen, we learn from it and try again.
