Timothy Wooster (86) serves as Provost and Dean of the College at ENC. Earning his BS in Chemistry from ENC and a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of North Carolina in 1991, Timothy continued his education with two years of post-doctoral research at the University of Vermont. As the son of a Nazarene minister and public school educator, he knew at a young age that he wanted to combine his love for the sciences and his call to servant leadership by entering the vocation of college educator. Timothy began his teaching career in 1993 as Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Westminster College in PA. Over his ten years of service at Westminster he was granted tenure, promoted to associate professor and served as Chair of the Department of Chemistry for four years. Additional responsibilities included serving on the search committee for five faculty searches, for the Academic Dean, and for the College Chaplain. He also served as the Director of the Science-In-Motion outreach program and as a member of the self- study reaccreditation steering committee. Timothy is an active scholar with fourteen peer-reviewed scientific publications and sixteen professional research presentations. In spring 2003, his mentor and friend, Dr. Lowell Hall, inquired if he would consider coming back to his alma mater as Associate Professor of Chemistry. The call of God was clear and Timothy joined the faculty at ENC for the 2003-2004 academic year. Redesigning the general chemistry laboratory program, upgrading the instrumentation facilities, serving on faculty council, chairing the academic policy committee, and establishing an undergraduate research program challenged and invigorated him during his first four and a half years at ENC. His commitment to his students was rewarded when he was honored with the ENC Teaching Excellence Award 2005-2006 and was promoted to full professor in spring 2007. Joining the new administrative team in fall 2006 he served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Director of Institutional Research and Retention, and as a member of the President’s Cabinet. In 2008 Timothy was named Vice President for Enrollment and Institutional Research, serving in that role until being named Provost in spring 2010. Timothy lives in Quincy with his wife, Elizabeth (Jarvis, 86), a music educator, and their children Luke and Ruth. The Woosters are members of the Wollaston Church of the Nazarene.
