Robert W. Mann, MD, FAAP
Alumnus of the Year

Robert W. Mann, MD, FAAP (60) was raised and educated in New England before moving to Texas as an Air Force neonatologist, setting up a pediatric practice in Arlington in 1971. He has been with Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth for 15 years, where he now serves as a senior physician. After receiving his degree from ENC, Bob continued at the University of Vermont Medical College, graduating in 1964. He then did his Straight Pediatric Internship at the Boston Floating Hospital for Infants and Children, Tufts University Medical Center followed by his Pediatric Residency at the University of Vermont Affiliated Hospitals, Burlington, VT. During his career Bob was a founding member of the American College of Pediatricians and has served on numerous boards including the Fort Worth Opera, the Arlington Civic Chorus (chair), Grace Preparatory Academy, and the Compassionate Ministries Advisory Board for the Church of the Nazarene.

Bob has been a vice president of Texas Baptist Men and has served with them on a mission trip to the Ukraine. He has worked with Global Partners UK on refugee mercy trips to Turkey, Northern Iraq and Kosovo/Albania, volunteered with World Relief Services following Hurricane Katrina. He and Angie (Bowman), his wife of almost 50 years, also participated in a mission trip to Thailand through Nazarene Compassionate Ministries. Their work with the National Day of Prayer Task Force has resulted in two invitations to the White House. Bob has served on numerous church boards and committees, and he is a founding board member of Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex where a medical clinic that he began is named in his honor. He has served on a number of boards at Cook Children’s, including finance chair of the physician group and has been awarded the Servant-Leadership Award by Cook Children’s and the Humanitarian Award by the Tarrant County Medical Society. For 20+ years Bob has served on the Physician Resource Council of Focus on the Family, including four years as chair. Bob also helped co-author Focus’s Baby and Child Care book and participated in writing other books for Focus. Bob and Angie have two married children, Brad and Jenny Craig, and three granddaughters.
