Corey MacPherson (96) grew up on the Metro New York District and graduated from ENC, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. He worked full-time through college at Putnam Investments and planned on continuing in the financial industry upon graduation. However, during the summer of 1995 while serving the Church of the Nazarene in Hong Kong with Youth in Mission, Corey realized he was called to full-time ministry. So after graduating from ENC he moved to Kansas City, MO where he attended Nazarene Theological Seminary, receiving his Master of Divinity degree. It was there that he met his wife, Edie. Upon completing seminary, Corey and Edie moved to Long Island where Corey founded and pastored North Shore Church of the Nazarene (2000-2008). During his tenure as pastor Corey served on the Institutional Review Board for Stony Brook University Medical Center, filling the federally-mandated roll of non-science ethicist.
In January of 2008 Corey became Chaplain at ENC and later that year was appointed to serve on the President’s Cabinet. In April 2009 he was appointed to the Commission for Advancing Intercultural Competencies for the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities. Corey graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary with his Doctor of Ministry degree with an emphasis in preaching and worship in May 2009. In April 2010 Corey was given the title of Vice President of Spiritual Formation and Church Relations for ENC. He is passionate about helping students on their spiritual journey but also feels strongly about helping them stay connected to the local church throughout their college years and beyond. His love for Christ and the Church is what motivates him to do what he does every day. Most importantly, he and Edie are the proud parents of daughter, Katherine, and son, Logan.
