Professional License

Professional License builds upon the Initial License. Each graduate must fulfill the following requirements:

1. Hold an initial license.

2. Complete the appropriate Master of Education courses.

3. Complete the courses in the appropriate licensure area.

Master of Education and Professional License

The Master of Education programs fulfill part of the requirements for both a Master of Education and Professional License in the state of Massachusetts. To receive both a Master's degree and Professional License, the student must have an undergraduate degree and at least an Initial License in an appropriate area. If the student does not have any Initial License, the student must complete the Initial License requirements before completing the Professional license and appropriate Master of Education degree requirements. All teacher licensure programs are dependent upon state approval and are subject to change by state mandate. All teacher education graduate students must have completed an undergraduate program and have an earned bachelor's degree in a liberal arts/science major.
