Dr. Timothy Shetler, Associate Professor of Music, has served Eastern Nazarene College since 1975 as faculty member or student in 1600 concerts and appearances, and became a full professor in 1987. He continues to serve the college actively as a connection to professional music organizations, public/private schools, clergy, alumni, and prospective students. He holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting from the New England Conservatory and the Masters of Music in Conducting from The Pennsylvania State University. He also has completed advanced graduate work at Westminster Choir College and Boston University. In addition to concerts and tours with the A Cappella Choir / Chamber Singers, other classroom responsibilities have included teaching in Conducting, Orchestration, Student Teacher Observation, Classroom Piano, Ear Training, Curriculum in Music Education, and Private Voice / Piano. Tour locations for the ENC Chamber Singers have included Austria, Belize, Bulgaria, Canada, Costa Rica, The Czech Republic, England, Denmark, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Guatemala, Hawaii, Holland, Hungary, Mexico, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Panama, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland, and Wales.
Dr. Shetler has been associated with the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Music Educators National Conference, and the Phi Delta Kappa Honor Society. He has also served as board member of the Choral Arts of New England. Through the American Choral Directors Association, he has traveled as guest conductor for honor choruses in several states including the Massachusetts Southeastern, Northeastern, and Western Districts. In recent years, he served as guest conductor for New York Area All State – Zone 2, Massachusetts Southeast District, and the All Island Choral Festival of Martha’s Vineyard. He also serves as guest adjudicator for Heritage Festivals, USA, Toronto, at Riverside Church in New York City, Washington D.C., Orlando, and various Boston locations. Dr. Shetler has offered studio lessons to South Shore communities for many years, and currently teaches in Lexington, Concord, and Acton.
