Due to the pending storm all ENC daytime and evening classes are cancelled starting at 2:00pm today (1-26-15) through Wednesday evening (1-28-15). At this time classes are scheduled to resume Thursday morning (1-29-15). This includes all traditional undergraduate and Adult and Graduate classes at all campus locations, including all ECE locations. 

All campus offices will be closed for Tuesday (1-27-15) and Wednesday (1-28-15).

HI315 The History of Rock and Roll

History    credits: 3

This course will survey the history of rock music from 1955 to the present. It will trace the emergence of interracial pop, the rise of the genre during the postwar American economic boom, and the development of a new youth culture. Throughout the semester students will be encouraged to think critically about the roots of rock music and how the genre has shaped American culture.
